2020 Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis Vieilles Vignes de Sainte Claire A favorite appellation that crosses the ages, Chablis seduces with the freshness of its Chardonnay wines always tinged with minerality. Tonic and digestible, this cuvée is no exception and is expressed by flavors of green apple, lemon, chalk and crushed stone that will make your taste buds dance with happiness. From aperitif to fresh cheese, including oysters, salmon gravlax and seafood, you will never be in trouble with a Chablis! Winemaker NotesAromatically the wine is full of yellow fruits, such as lemon and crunchy apples, mango, and a hint of salty air. On the palate, the wine is a touch oily, with notes of marzipan, crushed rocks and delicate lemon curd. 93 Points Decanter Some of the vines here are over 70 years old. Even with a reticent, understated nose one can sense the energy and precision in this wine. There’s a lovely, creamy texture on the palate, with bright citrus notes and a long, lingering, savoury, mineral finish. Full bodied and richly textured but anchored by a steely edge of acidity, it's ready now but should drink well through 2030 at least. 90 Points Vinous The 2020 Chablis Vieilles Vignes de Sainte Claire is clean and fresh on the nose, offering apple orchard and sliced pear aromas. The cohesive, focused palate is well balanced with a touch of sour lemon on the entry, good substance on the midpalate and gentle but insistent grip on the finish.
