Produced from a single plot of Chablis Vieilles Vignes planted in 1946,47 and 48, this exceptional wine is my finest tribute to the artistic talent of my spiritual father, Louis Petit, who humbly transmitted his knowledge to me.
Some of the vines here are over 70 years old. Even with a reticent, understated nose one can sense the energy and precision in this wine. There’s a lovely, creamy texture on the palate, with bright citrus notes and a long, lingering, savoury, mineral finish. Drinking Window 2022 - 2025
Sourced from low-yielding old vines (planted after World War II), this smoky, chalk-edged white highlights the classic mineral inflections of Chablis against luscious lemon and pear flavors of this ripe vintage. Full bodied and richly textured but anchored by a steely edge of acidity, it's ready now but should drink well through 2030 at least. Anna Lee C. Iijima
The 2020 Chablis Vieilles Vignes de Sainte Claire is clean and fresh on the nose, offering apple orchard and sliced pear aromas. The cohesive, focused palate is well balanced with a touch of sour lemon on the entry, good substance on the midpalate and gentle but insistent grip on the finish. Excellent. Neal Martin. 6/2021.
