This wine (delicious soft, lightweight) Pinot Noir is from Baden in the upper Rhine region across the Rhine from Alsace in France and named after a former cellar dog.
Winemakers Hans-Bert Espe and Silke Wolf of Shelter Winery make extraordinarily delicate, fragrant Pinot Noir in Baden, a region more known for Pinot Noir that are heavy and (too) oaky.
This Pinot Noir has a bright ruby color and aromas of red fruit such as cherry and raspberry, as well as floral notes. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy with medium acidity and tannins with a great mineral structure. The wine has flavors of red fruit, bramble fruit, cassis, sweet spice, and tea leaf. The finish is long and elegant.
