This Maconnais has beautiful peach and citrus aromas followed by dried fruit, sweet spices, nutty and hint of minerality. It is a fresh and lively white. This overachieving Maconnais hits all the white Burgundy sweet spots -succulent fruit, a tangy minerality from the vineyard’s chalky soils, balanced alcohol combined with a great price point.

The Pouilly-Loche appellation is nestled into the heart of Pouilly-Fuissé. It is the smallest appellation of the Maconnais and though rare, its best wines (from the finest vineyard sites like this) easily compete with far more expensive Pouilly-Fuisses.

This great dry white Macon from the Pouilly-Loche AOC expresses the quintessence of the Chardonnay grape through its elegance and its fruit. It may be enjoyed in a number of different ways and different circumstances. When young, its greeny-gold colour and nose of acacia and hawthorn flowers qualify it to be drunk as a pre-dinner drink. Its freshness reveals aromas of peach and lemon or grapefruit. After 3 to 5 years in the bottle (depending on the vintage), its gold turns to amber and more complex notes emerge, ranging from pear and apricot to quince and dried fruits, hazelnut or toasted almond, or even gingerbread. There is wide variation between Climats in this appellation so Pouilly-Loche may turn out opulent and silky or friskier and more mineral.
In any case, it always retains its balanced structure which ensures a long finish in the mouth.

The Pouilly Loché AOC is the smallest appellation in the Mâconnais (about 85 acres). It is one of the great unknown micro-appellations of Southern Burgundy. Pouilly-Loché is located adjacent to the more famous appellations Pouilly-Fuisse, which is considerably larger than Pouilly-Loche, and Pouilly-Vinzelles, but is located to the east, slightly closer to Mâcon.  Loché has been a site devoted to vines since the Roman times. Excavations during the construction of the TGV station in the late 1970's revealed the foundations of a large Roman villa. In the following centuries wine growing flourished under the influence of the monks of Cluny, who are reminded of the magnificent 12th century octagonal bell tower.

The wine offers delicate and precise aromas of ripe yellow fruits.  Dense, fleshy and fruity in the mouth with a fresh menthol finish.

The name "Les Cadoles" refers to the numerous small constructions that served as shelters for the wine growers throughout the Maconnaise.. Varying in sophistication, their design is quite unique. These “cadoles” are the subject of an ambitious restoration and preservation programme set up by the "Société des Amis des Sciences et des Arts de Tournus" (Friends of the Sciences and Arts of Tournus).
