This is the largest brand in St.-Emilion with about 15,000 cases produced every year. The owner, Jonathan Maltus, is frequently termed a "Garagiste" and "Cult winemaker". He collaborates with the oenologist Neil Whyte and consultant oenologist Gilles Pauquet. In addition to its Grand vin Château Teyssier, the estate produces the "super-cuvées" Le Dôme, Vieux Château Mazerat, Les Astéries, Le Carré, Clos Nardian as single vineyard wines and the estate wine Château Laforge. The estate is planted to 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc.

Vinous: 91 Points

From: 2015 Bordeaux: Every Bottle Tells a Story... (Feb 2018)

The 2015 Teyssier is a fabulous introduction to Jonathan Maltus's wines. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and dark spice, along with the wine's natural lushness, give the Teyssier much of its immediacy and allure. Flamboyant an inviting, with impeccable balance, the 2015 has so much to offer, including a very appealing proposition of price and availability. The blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Drinking Window 2018 - 2028, Antonio Galloni, 12/2017.

Wine Enthusiast: 90 Points

Ripe, soft and fruity, this is a delicious, accessible wine. It has red-berry fruits, soft integrated tannins and ripe fruitiness. This wine will develop quickly and easily. Drink from 2019. Roger Voss, 4/1/2018.

James Suckling: 91-92 Points

A balanced and pretty red with walnut and berry aromas and flavors. Medium to full body.
Barrel Sample: 91-92

Wine Spectator: 88-91 Points

This has a very friendly, juicy, rounded core of plum, blackberry and raspberry fruit, backed by silky tannins and carrying through the generous finish.
Barrel Sample: 88-91

Wine Advocate: 88-90 Points

The 2015 Teyssier is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc picked from 21 September until 8 October, the Cabernet picked from 9-15 October. Matured in 20% new oak, it has a sweet red cherry and blueberry scented bouquet that is lifted nicely by the new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet red and black fruit on the entry. There is a pastille-like purity here, nicely balanced with a smooth and seductive finish. You can really see the wide commercial appeal of this well-crafted Saint Emilion. It will drink earlier than others, but should give ten years of drinking pleasure.
Barrel Sample: 88-90
