Chateau Le Boscq Description

Château Le Boscq features among the great classics of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The first wine, Chateau le Boscq Cru Bourgeois, is a St-Estephe wine bursting with character, which elegantly combines the power of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, with the Merlot’s finesse, which is unusual for the appellation. Delicate and well-balanced, it has great ageing potential.

For Château Le Boscq, sustainability is at the heart of its approach, and has adopted environmentally sensitive practices that respect Nature, the soils and humankind. Since the vintage 2018, Château Le Boscq has benefited from Terra Vitis and High Environmental Value (HVE) environmental certifications.

Since 1995 we have been passionately dedicated to renovating this little gem of a property in Saint-Estephe and restoring it to its former glory. Located on a magnificent terroir, right next to the Gironde estuary and overlooked by a majestic residence, with its rich and ancient history, the Château Le Boscq vineyards today produce highly distinctive wines, which elegantly combine the powerful character of Saint-Estephe with extraordinary finesse." Patrick Jestin,  CEO of Dourthe.

Established in Bordeaux since 1840, Dourthe soon became recognised as a reliable, innovative wine producer in Bordeaux.... Since Chateau Belgrave in 1979, we have acquired eight additional properties over the last twenty-five years. While each property was approached as a unique adventure, during this period we developed a growing passion for our vines and wines, and launched a major improvement plan across the entire portfolio of estates.

Wine Enthusiast: 94 Points

This well-run estate shows its pedigree in this latest release. The firm tannins of the appellation are balanced by powerful black fruits and smoky, wood-aging flavors. The 63% Cabernet Sauvignon is the key to the wine's structure and aging potential. Drink from 2025. Roger Voss, 4/1/2021.

Wine Advocate: 91 Points

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 le Boscq reveals notes of warm cassis, ripe black plums and boysenberries with hints of charcoal, pencil lead, star anise and bouquet garni. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of crunchy black fruits, framed by ripe, grainy tannins and impressive freshness and finishes with great length and lovely purity. Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, 4/22/2021.

Vinous: 90 Points

Wine Spectator: 90 Points

Sleek and pure in feel, with pebbly tannins imbedded seamlessly in the core of cassis and bitter cherry flavors. Light floral and iron notes dart throughout. Modest in scale, but finely cut. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2031. 6,750 cases made. James Molesworth, Web Only - 2021.
