In 1999 Helene and Arnaud Derats bought the Château de Melin. This 16th century chateau is located on the town of Auxey-Duresses. The next year, following a family tradition, they they acquired the family winery and vineyards. The Château de Melin currently operates about 55 acres of vineyards and produces wine from 22 appellations: 20 in the Côtes de Beaune and 2 in the Côtes de Nuits areas. The vinification process still takes place in the family winery in Sampigny-les-Maranges. However, the aging and bottling of the wines is accomplished in their cellars at the Château.
