So beautiful and balanced with ultra-fine tannins and berry, hazelnut and chocolate character. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Very fine indeed. Better in 2016. 2/2015.
From an historic estate in Pomerol dating back to the 18th century, the 2012 Beauregard (70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc) is a successful effort. The wine is dense ruby/purple and shows loads of licorice, blackcurrant and black cherry in a dense, medium to full-bodied very pure, rich style. This is somewhat of a sleeper of the vintage in Pomerol and very noteworthy. This should drink well for 10-15 years. Robert Parker, 4/2015.
From: Bordeaux 2012: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (May 2013)
Fully saturated inky-purple. The initially closed nose displays strong mineral tones, then opens with aeration to show blackberry jam and cassis aromas. Fresh, sweet and supple, with blackcurrant and blackberry jam flavors complicated by sweet spices and incense. Smoothly tannic on the long finish, where an herbal edge adds interest. This excellent vintage for Beauregard includes less cabernet franc than usual in a tough year for the variety, and it appears that suitably small yields have made all the difference. Ian D'Agata 5/2013. 89+
92–94. Barrel sample. Solid, firm and tannic, this is a powerful success. It has equal weight of fruit and tannins and a palate that's intensely structured and complex. For long-term aging. Roger Voss, 4/1/2013.
