Rich, complex, and deeply focused, our version of a Bordeaux blend is a steady companion to a variety of celebratory occasions!
As many of you know, I enjoy the challenge and the creative expression that our only blend affords me! Each harvest I recognize the myriad of options to assemble a wine from such diverse origins. As I walk the vineyards, some owned, some under contract, I revel in the variety of soils, micro-climates and topography of the Napa Valley. The 2019 Fraternity is more serious and I reflect on my own palate and its evolution towards thoughtful wines with specific intention. This is my version of a Bordeaux blend: anchored in the fundamentals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc and yet with the delight that Syrah brings to the experience. This wine is a bit brooding and with a high percentage of new French oak comes an opportunity to cellar this wine. Served in its youth, I insist on a vigorous decanting to bring forth the beautiful layers of dark fruit and savory that show more complexity and depth with this wine over than prior vintages.
