The wine has a ruby ​red color, a pleasant scent of morello cherry, ripe wild berry fruits and violets on the nose. and is fresh and tannic on the palate. The wine features flavors of sweet spices, more ripe wild berry fruits and silken texture, all balanced by brisk acidity, a hint of herbal savory notes in the middle and a slight, pleasantly bitter tinge of dark chocolate toward the close.

Bagnoli Friularo (or Friularo di Bagnoli) is a relatively new DOCG (2011) in the Veneto region of northern Italy, just south of Padua. Friularo is the local name for the Raboso Piave grape variety. 

Bagnoli Friularo has to made with at least 90% Raboso Piave grapes and the rest of other authorised varieties. The appellation rules require that a proportion of the harvested grapes have to be placed in a fruit-drying facility until late winter before pressing and fermenting.  But the dried grapes used for this may make up a maximum of 50% of the harvest. Due to the high amount of tannins of the Raboso Piave  grapes the wine is aged has to aged in large oak barrels for a minimum of 24 months for the DOCG wines..

The Raboso Piave grape (Friularo di Bagnoli) is quite different from other well known Italian grape varieties. It is quite acidic and has a "sweet" fruit core. The wine has aromas and flavors of red berries, dried raisins, violets and cherries. But that core is really sweeter than in other wines from the dried late harvested grapes . This is another Italian wine that is quite off the beaten path
