This is an incredible value! To get a 25 year Armagnac for less that an XO Cognac is rare. But to get an old brandy at this quality is amazing. Delord is one of only three armagnac houses (along with Janneau and Samalens) that uses pot stills for the armagnac, along with the traditional armagnac continuous still.
Four Generations
The Armagnac Delord story started in 1893. Prosper Delord, travelling distiller and cellar master took his alambic from farm to farm, transforming white wine into Armagnac.
1932
It was Prosper’s sons Gaston and Georges that started the Armagnac house Delord Freres in Lannepax. Producers, distillers and traders, they gradually sold their Bas-Armagnacs from Gascony to the United States....
2001
Sylvain and Jérôme, Jacques’ two sons form a new fraternity in the company; one who noses, tastes and blends and the other skilled in the art of its promotion.
Vanilla bean and allspice aromas entice on the nose. The bold, complex palate opens with oak and caramel brushed with toffee and espresso, finishing with a grip of tannins and plum skin dryness. Walnut and clove frame the exit. Kara Newmann, 12/1/2021.
