2015 Lake & Vine by Jed Steele Description Lake & Vine 2015 Red Blend is comprised of Syrah (30%), Zinfandel (25%), Barbera (15%), Merlot (14%), Petite Sirah (13%) and Riesling (3%). Blueberry, raspberry jam, sandalwood, cinnamon and eucalyptus aromas entice the nose. Flavors of anise, dark cherry and a silky mid-palate core of raspberry and cherry are followed by hints of black pepper, milk chocolate and well-integrated tannins on the finish. The majority of the fruit for this wine comes from the Kelsey Bench appellation, northwest of the Red Hills appellation in Lake County. The vineyards are planted up to 1,600 feet, the UV intensity creates greater tannins and intense wines. The 2015 harvest was deemed one of the earliest and most challenging in Lake County, but yielded excellent quality.
