2018 Simi Merlot

The 2018 Sonoma County Merlot is deep garnet in color with a ruby edge. The nose is a compelling mixture of juniper, dried herb, bright red cherry, black tea leaf, dried orange peel, exotic spices, and notes of vanilla and light toast. On the palate, plush dark bramble, dried blueberry, and dark chocolate are framed by notes of black pepper and cedar. This medium- to full-bodied wine leads to a silky finish.

With the first sip, you’ll understand why the Alexander Valley is famed for Merlot and other red Bordeaux grapes. Nearly ¾’s of the fruit for this wine, rich with blackberry and plum, comes from this valley.

We made our first wine from Sonoma County grapes in 1876 and have been continuously making wine in the same stone cellar in Healdsburg, California since 1890. As we have from the beginning, our wines reflect Sonoma County - a small, scenic and stunningly diverse region along the Pacific Coast.
