"The 2007 Pillar Box Red, a blend of 65% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet
Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot. Purple-colored, it exhibits an expressive nose of
spice box, earth notes, blueberry, and black currant. Ripe, sweet, and
layered, this nicely rendered red has exceptional balance and length for its
humble price."

"Pacific Rim Riesling falls in the medium-dry range, with 2.4%
residual sugar and plenty of brisk acidity to balance the sweetness. When
made right, Riesling has an impeccable sugar-fruit-acid balance. The aromas
and flavors of this Riesling offer a blend of nectarine and pineapple, with
subtle floral notes. This is a nicely balanced wine with good length and
fruit. Good value!"

".....was
the stand out wine....."
"In the year 1999 Joseph Phelps and his son created a winery
called Freestone. In the year 2010 Freestone Winery’s head winemaker visited
Pop’s Wine & Spirits. It is always a treat to meet the people behind the
wine, and Ms. Theresa Heredia was a pleasure to have in our store! From the
foggy, cool climate of Freestone Winery she brought us the 2008 Fog Dog
Chardonnay to taste! This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay from their
estate vines and from other vineyard sites as well.
"The 2008 Fog Dog Chardonnay was the stand out wine of a
four-bottle tasting we had with Ms. Heredia. It began with a light,
palate-pleasing creaminess that was just utterly irresistible and finished
with a “punch in the mouth” acidity that was for lack of a better word,
awesome. It is hard to believe that this Chardonnay is 100% Oak barrel
fermented. Only 20% of Freestone’s vineyards are planted Chardonnay, so they
take special care and attention to their white wine. The 2008 Fog Dog
Chardonnay has a Chablis-like quality that is superb for the summer, a
wonderful companion for fish or seafood courses. Joseph Phelps really hit a
home run with the Freestone Winery! Two thumbs way up for Ms. Heredia and
her 2008 Fog Dog Chardonnay!"
Ashley Mancill, Wine Consultant, Pop’s Wine & Spirits, June 2010
"The 2008 Fog Dog Chardonnay is medium bodied with the color of fresh
lemons and aromas of melon, apricot and Meyer lemon zest. The first sip,
which is fresh, lean and crisp, follows through with a spicy mid-palate and
finishes with firm, balanced and pleasant acidity. The lively and vibrant
character of this wine is truly a representative of the Sonoma Coast and is
a great example of what can be achieved from this growing region, especially
during a challenging, warm vintage."

"The new kid on the block from Pahlmeyer follows brilliantly in the
footsteps laid down by its predecessors going back now more than half a
decade. It is an amazing record of achievement that is seconded by the 2006
Chardonnay also reviewed in this Issue, and it places Pahlmeyer solidly in
the pantheon of outstanding Chardonnay producers in California. This wine,
if anything, is too young even to be considered for drinking. It may have a
strong, bold personality highlighted by sweet appley scents and smoky oak
overlays, but it is also tight in the latter palate and has not begun to
open up fully. Lay it down for a year or three or more and drink the 2006 in
the meantime." ($70)

"A beautiful young Cab, built along classic Napa lines. Stands at the
elegant end of the stylistic spectrum, with relatively low alcohol, less
ripe fruit and a delicate mouthfeel. Shows flavors of herbs, cherries and
blackberries. Drink now through 2015. Good value in an upscale Cab." ($32)
