They
say $30 (Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine), we say $16!
..... 95 points too!!
We love it when our suppliers need to move goods. We're good at taking
it all and paying for it promptly. Great formula that translates into
sensational prices.
"With lots and lots of well-defined, optimally ripened blackberry and
stone fruit notes leading the way in both its very deep, full-scaled aromas
and wonderfully well-extracted flavors, this year's Teldeschi hits all the
right varietal marks. It is at once endowed with zesty acidity and palpable
tannins, yet both of those pieces of the puzzle are appropriately buffered
by plenty of real fruit at its very heart. The wine's obvious richness may
tempt some into early drinking, but this one is bound to get better and
better if allowed three to five years in bottle."

".....this
is one of the best California Port-style wines out there....."
94 points too!
"Made from traditional Portuguese varieties, this is one of the best
California Port-style wines out there, which is no surprise coming as it
does from sweet wine specialist Quady. It’s tremendously rich and sweet in
chocolate truffle and blackberry-infused flavors, with near-perfect acidity
and tannins for balance. A great success at a good price for a full, not a
half, bottle."

".....These
new releases are nothing less than breathtaking....."
"Andrea Franchetti is eccentric. Out there. A true artist who
thinks without bounds. For years his Tenuta di Trinoro property in Tuscany
has been putting out "profound" wines- and the rosso of that property, Le
Cupole, is regarded as one of the finest values in affordable Super Tuscans.
And then Franchetti discovered Mount Etna. Smitten with the Nero Masclese
grape, Andrea makes wines that bring the Burgundian concept of power without
weight to a region traditionally defined only by girth and power in its
reds.
In short, the wines of Passopisciaro are reference point wines for Sicily,
and for Italy, and are "MUST HAVES" for Italian inventories."
Christian Troy, Fine Wine Consultant, May 2010
"The just-bottled 2007 Passopisciaro is a weightless yet powerful wine
redolent of sweet candied cherries, flowers, herbs and minerals. The wine
reveals lovely density and purity, even if a few days of rain towards the
end of the growing season in November robbed it of the intensity that
informs the very finest vintages. Still, there is gorgeous purity to the
fruit that insures this will be fascinating wine to follow over the coming
years. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2021.
Andrea Franchetti wasn’t content to just make profound wines at his Tuscan
estate, Tentua di Trinoro, so he set out to replicate that success at
Passopisciaro, his property on Mount Etna. These new releases are nothing
less than breathtaking."

".....This
is a very polished, elegant....."
"The 2006 Palazzo della Torre comes across as somewhat
restrained for this wine. This is a very polished, elegant Palazzo della
Torre with pretty layers of mocha, spices and new leather that add
complexity to the fresh, vibrant fruit. Palazzo della Torre is 70% Corvina
Veronese, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese. The addition of 30% dried fruit
(Amarone style) adds an extra dimension of complexity. The retro 1970's
label is also quite attractive. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.
This is a terrific set of new wines from Allegrini, one of the benchmark
producers in Veneto."
