We just bought a ton of this, mostly because we sell a ton of it! .....but
look at our price..... $7+, when bought by the case!!
"This non-vintage Zinfandel-dominated blend is always
intensely fruity and rich, with a good measure of spicy tanins at the end."

Read this review, it says "It sells for $29, a bargain by most
Napa standards."
Ok, what's the word I'm looking for if it sells for $22+?
"I splurge on high-end Napa Cabernet now and again because I love those
rich, intensely flavored wines, but they aren’t always in the budget. On a
recent Friday evening, Sonoma County was sunny for a change, so I decided to
grill steaks outside. My wife brought home a bottle of the Chappellet
Mountain Cuvee, and the evening became even brighter.
Chappellet winery always seems to over-deliver on quality for the price,
thanks in large part to the estate’s 100 acres of vines on Pritchard Hill,
high above Napa Valley. The 2007 is a blend of 51 percent Cabernet Sauvignon
and 46 percent Merlot, with a dash of Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit
Verdot. The wine is rich and seamlessly mouthfilling yet complex and
beautifully structured. It’s ready to drink in the short term—it brought out
the best in the beef—but will do fine in the cellar for a few years. I rated
it 92 points, non-blind. It sells for $29, a bargain by most Napa standards.

"The mid-level 2006 Numanthia is a deeper color than both vintages of
Termes. It displays a brooding bouquet of wood smoke, Asian spices, violets,
espresso, black cherry, and blackberry. Dense, rich, powerful, and
incipiently complex, it merits 5-7 years of additional bottle age and will
offer prime drinking from 2015 to 2026."

"Once part of Doña Antonia de Ferreira’s extensive holdings in Douro,
the Quinta do Vallado is still in the hands of her descendents. The property
rises above the confluence of the Douro and Corgo rivers, just east of Regua,
the wine produced by another Ferreira descendent, Francisco Olazabal, whose
family runs the Quinta do Vale Meão. Olazabal’s hand is apparent in the
wine, which could stand in for a great vintage of Vale Meão in its brilliant
richness and acidity. The schist hillsides come through in powerful
minerality, the glints of red fruit and black stone reflecting across a vast
expanse of flavor. The texture is supple; the heady spice and floral finish
last for minutes. This is destined to be a classic, with the potential to
develop for a decade or more." ($60)

"It seems as if Eroica gets more precise with each vintage. The joint
venture between Ernst Loosen and Chateau Ste. Michelle produced a 2008
that’s simply brilliant, its scents of Thai pineapple and passionfruit
leading to limelike flavors hurried along by rippling acidity. There’s
tension between the brisk and creamy textures, a contrast of generosity and
mineral edges. Pair it with wienerschnitzel."

What's going on with this wine?
A month ago we got a request for this wine. As is usual we
brought some in and began to stock it. A week later when we placed our
regular order with our vendor, I couldn't help but notice it was sold-out.
So, we brought in another batch.... A week after that, sold out again! OK,
you might say this caught my attention.
"Deep ruby in color, this 2008 blend has aromas of roasted peppers, black
cherries, savory dill, and toasted cedar plank. The palate is full of
blackberry fruit, cherry reduction, orange marmalade, marjoram, and dark
brown sugar. This blend has very good weight with layers of fruit balanced
with mid-palate structure. The wine finishes with nuances of Mexican dark
chocolate, dried cranberry, Tahitian vanilla bean, and molasses with toasty
French and American oak nuances. The base wine for the Cabernet comes from 2
vineyards in Paso Robles and one vineyard in Monterey. The Paso Robles fruit
from the East side of town grows on a sloping hillside that gets great sun
exposure in the afternoon. This allows the fruit extra exposure to sunlight,
which gives the fruit increased sugar content and development. This fruit
was harvested in early October, with great body as well as intense
blackberry fruit notes. The Monterey fruit is very concentrated with lots of
tannin and structure. We blended in a little of each Lodi and River Junction
Merlot to soften the mouthfeel and add jammy blueberry nuances. A dab of
Ruby Cab for color and Syrah for an herbal edge completes this blend."
Winemaker's Notes
"What a full-throttle Cabernet this beauty is. I noticed that we were
beginning to sell quite a bit of this very inexpensive cab ($8+ when bought
by the case), so I bought a bottle for myself to try. Boy was I impressed,
so I asked our staff about it an they were all in agreement. I got some
feedback from Michael that this was part of the Don Sebastiani Family of
Companies. Knowing that I'm no longer as surprised, they always seem to have
a knack for producing some great low-priced gems.
The wine has rich flavors of cappuccino, chocolate covered mints, currants.
I found it quite complex for an $8.00, with generous oak and gobs of layered
sweet fruit. While this wine was big, it was still forward and ready to
drink now."
