“Our Director’s Chardonnay comes from vineyards that have
substantially different daytime-nighttime temperatures. This differential
works to extend the growing season and enable the grapes to retain their
natural acidity. Our fruit is harvested in the early morning hours,
whole-cluster pressed, and largely fermented in oak to achieve richness and
bring out notes of vanilla and spice. A portion of the wine is fermented in
stainless in steel for a touch of vibrant acidity, which helps create a
beautiful balance. A smooth, velvety Chardonnay made from cool-climate
Sonoma fruit.”

“Etienne Grivot describes 2006 as a vintage that "I love. The wines
are exceptionally pretty with real depth and excellent balance plus they're
very fresh and very terroir. Overall, 2006 is a strong vintage and while it
won't make people forget about 2005, it is certainly a worthy successor."
A discreet, even reticent nose of earthy and very fresh dark berry fruit
evinces a subtle sauvage character that continues onto the big and sleekly
muscled flavors that are concentrated and mouth coating, all wrapped in a
the classically austere young Clos de Vougeot finish that delivers excellent
length. This is a serious effort that is balanced and should age extremely
well though it will require ample patience.”

“This beautiful wine (from a different vintage) was named Wine
of the Year at the Critics Challenge a couple of years back. This Riesling
is produced in volume, so it's a triumph for Chateau Ste. Michelle that the
quality is so high and the wine so consistent year after year.”

“Aromas of plum and black cherry permeate this inky, garnet hued Bordeaux
blend. Flavors of smooth vanilla and hints of tobacco are present on the
long, full finish. This wine is seamless from the beginning to the last sip;
it will age beautifully and develop its flavors in the bottle.”

There's lots of interest in Rose Closeouts. The last one sold out
in less than a day. If you missed out - here's your chance- Act Fast...
Today I present to you the 2009 Taft Street Rose of Pinot Noir - which is
drinking superbly! Normally in the $18-20 price range, this is a Great Deal
at $9+ by the case. The 2009 Rosé of Pinot Noir is a pale, rose-pink hue,
with floral aromas of dewy pink rose, with the overtone of a real rose; the
crisp, red watermelon and strawberry flavors compliment and the finish
lingers long for such a dry rosé with very decent acidity.
Taft Street began in a Rockridge, Oakland garage, and now resides in a
repurposed apple processing facility, down a funky country lane in
Sebastopol. Humble beginnings and residence notwithstanding, it's one of
Sonoma County's most reliable producers of moderately priced wines.
Given a budget of more than $10 and less than $20, in general, you can rely
on finding an agreeable Taft Street offering. This 2009 Rose of Pinot Noir
is loaded with crisp fruit flavors. EXTREMELY LIMITED!!!
