".....A screaming deal......"
"Escudo Rojo (which translates to “red shield”) is brought to
you from the Maipo Valley by the house of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the
same folks that own Mouton. This is a blend of four varieties. Cabernet
Sauvignon (58%) and Cabernet Franc (8%) are traditional Bordeaux varieties
that bring refinement and tannic power. Carmenère (27%), a typically Chilean
variety, and Syrah (7%) give fullness, density, color and a touch of spice.
Escudo Rojo is matured half in French oak barrels and half in stainless
steel vats. This delicate balance helps to preserve the wine's freshness and
fruit on a moderate tannic structure with judicious oak.
The nose is full of smoke, spice, meat and black fruit. On the palate, the
same smoky meaty flavors come through, with plush tannins and a medium
finish. Easy drinking and distinctly Chile. A screaming deal."

"A very silky wine with berry, cedar and tobacco character.
Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Lovely. Seductive and
racy. Very long indeed. Strength yet finesse. Best after 2007. Collectibles"

"This bottling, which is Randall Grahm's homage to the Northern Rhône, has
varied over the vintages, but with this 2006, hits the mark as never before.
Made with a splash of Grenache, it's full-bodied, bone dry and compelling in
the intricacy of flavors. The blackberries, black cherries, licorice, and
raspberries have elements of roasted meats and wild mushrooms sautéed in
butter, tamari and a few drops of balsamic, liberally dusted with black
pepper. Unique and compelling, and should develop over the next six years."

"Near perfect in the way it tastes almost sweet, then pulls back into
dryness. The flavors of pineapples, green apples, pears, peaches and
honeysuckle are made even more delicious by the judicious application of new
oak and sur lie aging. An Editors' Choice!"

"Bright and jazzy, with pretty pineapple, grapefruit,

"The top of the line 2005 Ceuso is a blend of 50% Nero d’Avola,
30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Merlot that spent 12 months in French oak.
This big, vibrant red flows from the glass with layers of violets, dark
cherries, smoke, leather, sweet spices, earthiness and minerals. The wine
reveals tons of depth, culminating in a powerful yet refined finish. A few
years of bottle age should help the wine come into greater focus, but it is
absolutely delicious today. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2017."
