Great wine doesn't have to cost a lot!

White Bordeaux
"Amazing values across several price-points!

On my trips each year, the Bordalais have been very proud of their emerging white wines. There are some amazing crisp and refreshing whites under $10, and several more serious selections that won't break the bank.

A lot of growth in this category over the past few years. Also, a lot of weird labeling issues... like Lynch Bages in Pauillac not being able to put "Pauillac" on their labels because antiquated French laws don't allow wineries in Pauillac to sell White wines??? Whatever... at least we can sell them and educate you that Blanc de Lynch Bages is really grown in Pauillac and is fantastic wine!

"Augey is Our Undeniable White Bordeaux Super Value!

The 2016 Augey is the best yet.

Augey White Bordeaux is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon with fresh aromas of citrus, apples and a hint of lemon grass. The crisp fruity flavors pair well with fish, chicken, salads, or goat cheese.

For $8+!!! It doesn't get much better...

"
This wine from Caves de Rauzan is ripe, with a strongly floral and aromatic character. It also has good acidity and richness. It is on the cusp of being delicious, so wait until late summer 2017."

A Winner!!!!

"A steal of a value is the Ronan by Clinet Bordeaux Blanc!

Sourced grapes from a single vineyard owned by a friend of a Pomerol superstar winemaker... provides this lush, crisp, refreshing and unbelievable value.

Fantastic. white spice, mineral, acid, tons of flavor, and wonderful finish! Excellent!

Ronan by Clinet is a brand (and now a real winery) of Chateau Clinet (Pomerol) created by the CEO Ronan Laborde since 2009.

The white is a blend: 80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% sémillon. A bright golden hue, as a pleasant introduction to a fine wine. Hints of yuzu, grapefruit, white flowers, passion fruit , a succession of aromas, all promising freshness, elegance and complexity. Flavours of citrus, white-fleshed fruits and warm spices fill the mouth.

Ronan By Clinet White is fleshy yet crisp and clean and an Awesome Price!!"

"More tropical in style is the Chateau Recougne, also a similar blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon and estate bottled, this one has more pizzaz.

Chateau Recougne has produced wine for more than 400 years. The 2016 Blanc is a crisp, unoaked blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Straw-colored with golden highlights.

On the nose, it offers up aromas of fresh grapefruit and green apple. Dry, fresh, clean and fruity on the palate, it works well as an apertif or as a pairing with seafood.

The vineyards are located in the right-bank Bordeaux commune of Fronsac, near the edge of the appellation and only about 2 1/2 miles from Lalande-de-Pomerol.

The 2016 is a winner with more grapefruit not unlike a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc."

"A real Head-turner is the 2015 Clos des Lunes, Lune D'Argent...
Pale gold color with green hues and an aromatically explosive lively citrus nose, coated with sweet aromas of acacia and lime.

Rich and exotic flesh of ripe Semillon and a delicious mineral complexity. The acidity of Sauvignon provides a good tension. Balanced, fruity and very long finish lets you know this is not a $10 quaffer...

93 Points - Wine Spectator
"A fresh, floral style, with a honeysuckle note leading the way, followed by chamomile, quinine and white peach flavors. Offers a long, pure finish."

93 Points - James Suckling
"Beautiful sliced pear, apple and stone aromas and flavors. Full body, bright and fresh."

"The Best White Bordeaux in my opinion is Domaine de Chevalier.

Not always the highest rated when compared to Haut Brion or Pavillon Blanc by Chateau Margaux... albeit the 2013 Domaine de Chevalier scored 98 Points James Suckling & 97 Points Vinous and sells for roughly $100 a bottle... that's great press.

But I have to say... Chevalier makes two white wines from their estate in Pessac-Leognan and I prefer the L'Esprit de Chevalier over the Domaine de Chevalier. Having tasted both, I can't tell the difference.... except that the L'Esprit is closer to $30 a bottle.

2013 L'Esprit de Chevalier Blanc is rich, lively, and complex with pure notes of lemon pith, vanilla and fennel seeds. A 50/50 blend of Semillon and Sauvignon with a lot going on... and a long, vigorous, finish."

91 points, Wine Spectator
"Pure and high-pitched, with a talc note driving the core of lemon pulp, fennel seed, yellow apple fruit and honeysuckle. The long, stony finish ripples on and on. A lovely, minerally version."

"Is it really fair for a world class winery like Chateau Lynch Bages from the village of Pauillac to have to label their white wines as "Vin de Bordeaux?"

I don't get it... but I get the wine - Superb and a real bargain compared to the reds."

95 points James Suckling
"
A bright and flavorful white with sliced apple, pear and mango follow through to a full body, crisp acidity and lively finish. Lots of white peaches too." (4/2016)

94 points Wine Spectator
"There's terrific zing and precision here, with tangerine and white peach notes allied to a steely spine and leading to a long fleur de sel finish. Should unwind slowly and will likely do well in the cellar." (JM, Web-2016)
