Ted's pick... 2016 Sancerre Rose Closeout!
"Was $28.99 this Summer, now $14+ by the case.

There are a lot of Rose’s these days. Provence Rose’s are delicious and are the Go-TO Rose of choice for most
people.

Established Rose drinkers search out the smaller, more unique bottlings – like Sancerre Rose! Sadly, 99% of Sancerre WHITES and ROSES are over $24 a bottle ALL YEAR ROUND. Too Expensive, albeit they ARE worth it…

Makes Deals like this one WORTH JUMPING on NOW!!!

2016 Sancerre, Chavignol, Rose, Domaine Martin

This wine with its aromas of red fruit and citrus peel and its good level of fresh acidity makes a delicious aperitif and would also go well with meals enjoyed al fresco (salads, barbeques, cold meat platters) during summer days and evenings. (A pleasant thought that weather like that is coming.)

Domaine Martin, a traditional and respected Domaine located in Chavignol is owned and run by Pierre Martin, son of well-known winemaker Yves Martin. The domaine consists of a scant 3 hectares of Chavignol Sauvignon Blanc (he has another 1 ha of Pinot Noir in appellation) raised using sustainable agriculture, using no herbicides. The vines are grown on the two famous terroirs of the regions: caillottes, stony, chalky pebbles and terres blanches, a mixture of clay and limestone. The average age of his vines are 20-25 years old, with the oldest vines being 35 years old. All vinification is done in temperature controlled stainless steel tank, with 4-6 month aging on fine lees with minimal batonnage. Production of the Chavignol Rose cuvee  is between 150 and 200 cases per year, depending on the vintage.

Tasted the other day, this 2016 is in a beautiful place now and will drink well over the next few years. The only rush, is to acquire some of this spectacular wine while it is still on-sale.

$14 a bottle for CURRENT vintage Sancerre Rose is a Tremendous deal!!!

Don’t wait!

Only a few cases to go around.

Ted's pick... Dirt cheap Chianti Value.....
..... you can have open all week and tastes great!

Fall weather encourages the search for darker Reds.
Mixing it up a bit, here’s a Phenomenal Value Chianti.

2016 Chianti Castelsina, Tuscany, Italy

Have you been to Italy? Tasted the House wine in Tuscany? Really great huh? This is a House Wine from Chianti – very entry level Chianti… Dry, Light, but with GREAT quality… makes you order another carafe… that great!

Aromas jump from the glass on this 2016 Castelsina Chianti…

And this is how much????????

This is real Chianti, I would guess it’s Organic as it tasted great over the 5 nights I had it open… Shockingly great and look at the price. Much better than the $4 Wood****** we have to pay $32 a bottle for at our local restaurants.

Pizza
Pasta
Anything with red sauce
Hot Dogs
Barbeque
It’ll go with everything.

2016 Castelsina Chianti is a blend of Sangiovese 85% and Merlot 15%. The nose is bright and rich with notes of ripe red fruit and light fun toasty notes. Fruity and well balanced and elegant with a long aftertaste. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks with skin contact maceration followed by 4 months aging in old French oak barrels.

Serious value Chianti!

Ted's pick... Stunning Sierra Cantabria 2015 Rioja Seleccion drinks way better than $10+
"Visiting wine properties is a lot of fun. That’s how you learn what’s really in a wine. On my first day in Spain this past April, we visited Muga, San Vicente and Sierra Cantabria – all 3 great wineries in Rioja that I’d first encountered
with the 1994 vintage. The biggest surprises taste-wise were at Sierra Cantabria.

Every wine they are making has an undeniable soul to it.

The BIGGEST surprise???

2015 Sierra Cantabria Rioja Seleccion!!!

Wow, this is serious stuff…

Most Seleccion’s in Rioja are $20+

This drinks A LOT BETTER THAN $10+

Dark fruit, gorgeous complex nose, Medium to Full bodied on the palate and extremely drinkable, I was thinking it was expensive but REALLY GLAD IT ISN’T! Sierra Cantabria Selección is the entry level wine to Sierra Cantabria’s classic line of wines. A fruit forward, with smooth, round
tannins and good acidity. Very well balanced with a long finish.

The 2013 and 2014 both scored 90 Points Vinous, the 2015 hasn’t been rated yet. The 2015 has a lot of the complex tastes of their “San Vicente” ($55 Powerhouse Rioja Reserva!!!) I’ll bet they blended some of this in!

Don’t miss this awesome Rioja with a lot of charm and ease of drinkability.

Here's an outstanding value!
"Originally an $18.99 priced Red Bordeaux... A LOT of competition at that price point... and it IS 2012... a Good but not Great vintage... FAR better than 2011 or 2013... but still 2012. The wine didn't sell the way they wanted it to. Next the winery drops their pricing and a few scoundrels are selling it for $13.99-$15.99 and gouging.

A customer brought this wine to my attention and she was blown away by its quality and Pop’s price.

Pop's is a very honestly run business.

We buy a lot of wines, put a fair markup on them and sell them... Our price was so good on this wine, the customer wondered if it was the same wine.

Same wine.

Had a taste last night and this will go down as one of the best Bordeaux Values at Pop's in a long time. Very full and smooth with a touch of earthy character from the 2012 vintage.

NEIPPERG Collection is the outcome of a very long viticulture tradition within the Neipperg family for many generations. The Counts von Neipperg are part of an illustrious German aristocratic family established since the twelfth century.

Stephan von Neipperg manages several prestigious estates: Château Canon La Gaffeliere, La Mondotte, Clos de l'oratoire, Clos Marsalette, Château d'Aiguilhe.

This wine is likely sourced leftovers from those estates. 2012 Neipperg Collection Red Bordeaux is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Was $18.99

Pop's price $7.95 by the 6 pack case!

$7+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ted's pick... 2015 Red Bordeaux: Pavie Macquin - 97 Points JamesSuckling
"96Vinous 96WineSpectator

2015 Red Bordeaux… We are full speed ahead selling 2015 Red Bordeaux's at ALL price points. Here's a 97 Rated Phenomenal St. Emilion...  St. Emilion was one of the winners in 2015! Legendary wines were produced…. Like…. 2015 Pavie Macquin, Premier Cru Classe, St-Emilion

97 points James Suckling
“The purity of fruit and focus in this wine is so impressive. Full body, powerful and persistent. It goes on for minutes here.” (4/2016)

96 points Vinous
“The 2015 Pavie Macquin is another tremendous wine from Nicolas Thienpont and his team. Inky, rich and voluptuous the 2015 is endowed with remarkable depth and plenty of underlying energy to back it all up. The flavors are dark, bold and incisive, as are the tannins. The 2015 is going to require
quite a bit of time to come together, but it is impressive, that much is obvious.” (AG) (4/2016)

96 points Wine Spectator
“Ripe, pure and expressive, with a beautiful panoply of loganberry, plum and red currant preserve flavors that meld seamlessly with anise and singed apple wood details and a subtle chalky spine. A bright floral accent on the finish lifts this up a register and lets it sail on, holding that note.”
(JM) (1/2018)
